Shore Road in Hythe is a small marsh mud flat with a great reach of fishing just past Hythe’s Sailing club. It is not a heavily fished area, as at certain high tides it is very hard to fish, and if you are not careful it could be dangerous, so please be take care in your choice of tides.
Shore Road offers a number of species from very large Eels in the summer months to shoals of Flounders in the winter. It has also been a proven Ray ground with multiple captures not uncommon using a pulley rig with Sandeel as bait. In the summer I have fished
Shore Road for Smoothounds and had a lot of success - my best so far was just shy of the double figure mark.
Shore Road is one of these mixed bag venues where if you use a small bait on a sensible sized hook you can catch just about anything. It is a hard match venue as it is not that big a beach and it definitely fishes better at the Hythe end rather than the Esso end.
